Platelet-Rïch Plasma Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy or PRP Injections is an innovative method to treat multiple concerns. Using your own blood, this platelet-filled injection helps to heal damaged tissue by creating new and healthy cells.

This procedure takes around 40-50 minutes in total. With multiple and consistent treatments, you will be able to see gradual improvement in skin volume, tone and wrinkles. Results will last anywhere from 18-24 months.

How PRP Therapy Works

Blood is drawn from the arm and spun in a centrifuge. The golden “platelet rich” section is delivered by a fine needle to the target areas (or is rubbed onto treatment areas as in the case with microneedling). This helps to increase collagen and elastin in the areas triggering skin repair and tightening.

A topical anesthetic will be applied prior to the treatment. The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the problem and the response to treatment.

Treatable Areas

PRP Therapy can be used to treat certain aesthetic concerns, such as:

  • Wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and/or uneven complexion on the face, neck, hands or décolletage area (upper chest)
  • Acne
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Crow’s feet

Other concerns treatable by PRP Therapy include:

  • Hair loss
  • Physical injuries
  • Inflammation – reducing pain and stiffness in joints
  • Osteoarthritis

What is a "Vampire Facial?"

Using PRP Therapy along with microneedling on the face is also known as the “Vampire Facial.” This mix of treatments will give a more youthful complexion when the platelets are injected back into the face.

Possible Side Effects

After your treatment, you are likely to experience the following for 3-7 days:

  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Swelling

Although there is little downtime after PRP Therapy, we recommend that you plan your treatment when you can take some time off. It is generally recommended that you plan for 2-3 sessions spaced from 4-6 weeks apart for the best results.
