This treatment uses a suction tool to act as an abrasive surface to exfoliate the top layer of skin. Microdermabrasion is minimally invasive and is generally suitable for all skin types.
This service is around half an hour long and results are noticeable soon after. There is little to no downtime after the treatment.
How Microdermabrasion Works
Microdermabrasion involves a gentle exfoliation of the skin’s surface that removes dead skin cells, helps with cell turnover and prevents build-up of sunscreens, makeup and environmental toxins.
Microdermabrasion is commonly used to treat:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
- Enlarged pores and blackheads
- Acne and acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Uneven skin tone, texture and complexion
- Sun damage
Does microdermabrasion hurt?
Most patients do not find it painful. Although it sounds very intense, microdermabrasion is a very relaxing procedure. The best way to describe the feeling of the procedure is a mild sucking/scratching sensation, or the lick of a cat’s tongue.
However, we do realize that everyone’s pain sensitivity is different. If you are at all worried about how the treatment feels, let us know during your consultation.
